A Royal Copenhagen porcelain bowl marked 2800/2559 on the base. The graduated blue ground fades from pale blue to white, with a hand-painted spray of blue bindweed flowers, buds and trailing tendrils. Underglaze decoration, so the colour sits right in the glaze rather than on top of it. Nice weight in the hand, and the wide flat rim makes it easy to display standing up or lying flat on a shelf.
Royal Copenhagen has marked every piece by hand since 1775 — the three waves for Denmark's straits, the crown for the royal patronage. Based on the backstamp style, this one dates from roughly the 1960s–70s. Good vintage condition.
